Amazon Echo Dot

Say it, and the Dot will light up and listen to your question or command. "Alexa" is Amazon's cloud-connected, voice-activated virtual assistant. She's Siri in a speaker. You wake her up by saying her name, or by saying one of your two other wake word options, "Amazon" or "Echo.

propagation sucks

Click Photo to enlarge

I've been a amateur radio operator going on nearly fifty years and have never seen/heard such poor propagation. So much fading (QSB) as now. Several times today I have had Europe call me, but then fade out to nothing. The rule of thumb is to use the highest band that is open but this is not working. 28, 21, 24, 10 megahertz are almost useless with the QSB. 14 megahertz provided some Europe and South American contacts but 7 and 5 had very weak signals, but may pick up with darkness falling. We are at the bottom of the sun's solar cycle I hope I live 5 or 6 years to see the upward turn. ..... Jack WB9OTX

Just returned home 12/16/2016

Just returned home from the Surgeon that did the back operation on me.
He gave me the all clear - I have no restrictions now.
I do have a very slight pain in my left leg while walking but it will
go away in time he tells me. I have lost about four months of my
life with this, but I am now ready to return to full life again. I am
so happy it has turned out so well. Thank you to all for the many
cards and emails wishing me well. ..... Jack
